We are delighted to have Bob come and give us such a personal perspective on the flora & fauna of Strangord Lough and its surrounds, comparing it to that in Jamaica. With much for locals and the general public to relate to, and ideas of what might have been formative in the development of young Hans Sloane in the 1660s.
Bob is our local marine biologist and worked for almost fifty years in research and conservation, living in Jamaica for 3yrs doing research and lecturing at the University of the West Indies. He managed the National Trust’s Strangford Lough Wildlife Scheme for a decade before becoming head of RSPB’s work in NI. Bob is a Trustee of Ulster Wildlife and gives lectures on expedition ships in the Polar Regions and the South Atlantic.
We are extremely grateful to Bob for donating all proceeds to HSC.
